FAQs

  • Pilates might be trendy, but it isn’t new. It was created in the early 20th century by Joseph Pilates. His method works the whole body using low-impact exercises that strengthen your muscles by focusing on posture, alignment, and flexibility. Joe developed over 600 exercises for the Mat and the various  apparatuses he invented, including the Reformer.

  • Barre is a combination of yoga flows, pilates moves and ballet techniques - but don’t worry, dance experience isn’t required! The workout is low impact but high intensity, using isometric holds to give you that signature Barre burn, broken up with dynamic, flowing, whole-body movements that feel oh SO-good and get your blood pumping.

  • Yes, everyone is welcome! We cater to all skill levels and body types. Our workouts are low impact, so they’re perfect if you’re just starting an exercise program. If you’re working with an injury or concern, we recommend a Private 1:1 Session before joining the group class environment.

  • We recommend pregnant clients have a Private 1:1 Session with us before entering the group class environment, but yes, pregnant clients are welcome in group classes. It is best to check with your medical professional before commencing if you are pregnant and new to Pilates. Please view our Pre and Postnatal page for more information. Email us to arrange a Private 1:1 Session at nicole@njoypilates.com.

  • Always consult your doctor or a medical professional to gain clearance for exercise if you have an injury. From there, we recommend attending a Private 1:1 Session with us to be assessed. Please email us to arrange a Private 1:1 Session at nicole@njoypilates.com.

  • If you are new to Pilates, start with our Barre, Mat Pilates or Reformer Pilates classes. These classes are all layered with options to make them beginner-friendly, as well as providing progressions for participants who are ready to challenge themselves. Our Barre Cardio and Jumpboard classes are for our more experienced participants who feel ready to progress even more and want to add some cardio to their movement routine.

  • We recommend bringing a water bottle (staying hydrated during exercise is important!) Wear comfy clothing you can move around in easily. We ask that all clients wear socks for Reformer Pilates classes. We sell grip socks in the Studio, or you are welcome to bring your own. All equipment including Mats is provided.

  • Our studio doors are locked at the class start time for the safety of the studio, our clients and teachers. Late entry is not permitted and will be considered a No-Show.
